Kodak, Madrid 2014-2016

These paintings show ordinary people in quotidian scenes of their private lives. The subject is family and is openly sentimental. I use the very particular aesthetics of the photographs made with the popular Kodak cameras of the 70s in order to express the nostalgia of remembrance. I’m keen on transmitting the feelings and emotions of the moments captured by the camera as temporal cadences of the reality. These are generally moments of celebration, we want them to stay in our minds. These paintings are about memory and about documenting the environment and the life of a whole generation in a particular country and which transcend individual and private experiences to reach universal meaning.
